Sphere

A sphere is a three-dimensional figure where all points on the surface are equally distant from the center.

A ball is a good example of a sphere.

When working with spheres, there are three key quantities:

  • Volume. How much space the sphere occupies
  • Surface area. The size of the sphere's outer surface
  • Radius. The distance from the center to the surface

The three quantities are connected through fixed formulas. If you know one of them, the other two can always be calculated.

This makes calculations with spheres both simple and straightforward.

Formulas

Radius

$$ r=\sqrt{\frac{A}{4 \cdot \pi}} $$

$$ r = \sqrt[3]{V \cdot \frac{3}{4 \cdot \pi}} $$

Volume

$$ V= \frac{4}{3} \cdot \pi \cdot r^3 $$

Surface area

$$ A=4\cdot r^2 \cdot \pi $$
